Serivicing And Mainenance Question

Just got a new Yaris T Spirit. Want to make sure it's in top condition so am planning on looking after it, which is a departure from my usual buy and then run into the ground attitude.

I'm wondering what checks to do on a regular/semireg basis. I have a small list but don't know how often to do them (if at all)

So far I have (in no order)

Check oil

check coolant levels

Change air-con filter (every 18,000 miles apparently)

check Tyre pressure

Check wheels and nuts

wash the car!

oil and filter service after 1 year (10,000 miles)

full service 2 years (20,000)

Another thing, is it best to get all the Toyota recommended lubricants etc or just get any that match the specs that they provide?

All of the above

BUT............. I change my oil and filter at 5000, cheap to do and your engine will love you for it.

IMO 10,000 miles is toooooooooo long to wait for new oil.

Agreed...I change my oil at 5K as well, also belive 10K is too long. for the first year...maybe as it's lets everything bed in...after that 5K is grand...as she gets more miles under her belt 3k will be even better.

Only takes you 30 mins to do..and as said she'll love ya for it.

Oh! obviously Don't forget to recycle your old oil!

Tyre pressures...I check mine every other Tank full of fuel. and visually each day before driving away.

Checking coolant levels is one thing...also need to check it's condition. It's worth while replacing the coolant every 20k

And yes...washing does wonders...not just cosmetically..but it gets all that corrosive salt off the bodywork.
