Powder Coating Alloys

Folks,

I have a thunder grey t-sport and the alloys are getting quite pockmarked after a few winters.

One of the things that I've been considering is getting the wheels powder coated satin black. A fairly local firm can do them for me ... has anyone else done this?

If they have let me know the outcome ...

Got the alloys recoated on my Audi last year. Top job, top service.

Don't know the setup at the place you'll be using but at my local wheel place it was a case of drop the car off first thing in the morning, they removed the wheels and tyres, blasted and coated the wheels, refitted the tyres and balanced the wheels. Picked the car back up about 3 o clock. All done...£150.00. Top Service.

Thanks folks,

I took the Car round to the dealer this morning and had the anticipated argument which ended in them ordering a complete new set of alloys.

The replacements will of course start to corrode after a few months and when they do I'll get them powder coated black.

Ok .. next question how much for tinting the glass darker?

NO, they will not corrode, if you keep them clean and smear a thin layer of VASELINE (yes it does have another use!!) on them. Once a month should do it, unless you live in the desert)

Thanks guys,

A mate reckons he can do my tints reasonable - just wanted to check what I should give him to say ta.

Going to go to tdi and have HKS exhaust and induction kit fitted sometime soon also.

As another thought - has anyone tried having the head skimmed on their yaris for bigger capacity?
