Problem With Induction Kit

Hey guys,

Just received my apexi induction kit this morning (Cheers Ryan  ) and just had a quick look at the engine bay to see how it fits on.

I have a 1.3L T3 and I just can't figure out how this thing goes on?

When I remove the airbox, all I see is the block and it looks like the air goes in at the back of the engine. There is no plastic panel bearing the VVTI sign that can be seen on Lee's photo of his bay.

Am I just being stupid here or is my engine not right. It says on the box that the kit does fit the 2NZ-FE and I heard someone else here putting it on their 1.3

HELP !!!

Moxy

Anyone any idea?

I was on the understanding that the Apexi was for the T-Sport 1.5 only!?!?! :!Removed!:

Yeah, I've heard a few people have them on the 1.3.

Some photos would be really helpful of the 1.3 bay... :)

have you got an engine with the airbox on the top or down the side of the block?

wrong engine then

your throttle body is at the back and on top of the engine

the ones it is desinged for are for the engines with the airbox down the side and the throttle body at the front of the engine behind the grill

sorry buddy

you could make it fit however if you could mount it on the side of the airbox and remove the cold air feed and std filter element inside i suppose?

Yup, just checked, my engine is actually the 2sz-fe :crybaby:

They must of changed the 1.3 engine at some point

Would that work?, I did think of doing that, but my only worry was if the cone was too high it would hit the bonnet.

But I suppose I could angle it down somehow, but how much support would I need for the cone. I suppose I would have to think of somewhere to bolt it to...

I would also need to seal the air sensor hole on the apexi pipe, since the sensor would be remaining in the air box

Anything else I havent though of...

Cheers,

it may touch the bonnet but thats basically how the pipercross filter fits. im sure if you ask ryan1985 he will show the pic of his ex-filter

if you can get it to go on then yes just bung the hold up with a bolt or somat and youll be fine

its 8 guage power cable and its perfectly fine for the job i need at the moment. since i got my amplifier for virtually nothing (and its a budget one) i'm happy to use it for now. when i decide to upgrade it to a 4 channel amp, i will upgrade the wiring kit. but for now it works fine.

i am a student who has to pay for everything myself, and since this is my second brand new car i have bought, i cant really afford to be upgrading everything at once.

no offence, but maybe you should bear that in mind before picking faults at peoples cars...

Progress so far....

I've had the cold air feed off and found out it connects to the air box via an oval shaped hole (very roughly 8cm by 4cm). The apexi fitting is a 6cm diam round hole.

So the problem is getting these two to fit into eachother.

further down the air feed pipe it changes to a nice round shape but the diameter is about 4cm so its too small to fit into the apexi fitting.

Is there any sort of rubber or pipe I can buy to make the two fit??

Thanks for the pic Danny

And by the way, I'm a poor student as well :crybaby:

Cheers,

Moxy

try an get hold of a samco hos that should do the job its about £8/meter, obviously dont need that much, although you could rediretc the filter closer to the grill
