On a VVTi, money is better spent on handling and braking upgrades, rather than trying a gain a few extra ponies, as Toyota did a pretty good job of getting the most from the 1ZZ. A K&N panel air filter might give you 1BHP, and will save you money in the long run, as it will last the life of the car.
