Issues With Buyer

Have a look at this web page for some reassurance .....

http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/advice/problemswithvehicles-sum6.cfm

I recall there was some change to the rules regarding "fit for purpose" but this was for trade sellers where putting things like "sold as seen" was irrelevant and the only way TRADERS have no comebacks is if they advertise a car as 'for spares or repair' now.

Thanks for that hoovie

Just had a call from another number and been threatned with violence. Unfortunately don't know how to record calls but just going to contact the police enough is enough

Thanks for all your input though guys

That's terrible! Definitely time for the Police. The least they should do is contact them and read the riot act.

Just done it. Very helpful. Starting to get bit scary as we got 3 kids all under 7 and I'm disabled myself told the police that too and they been very helpful. Mrs really stressing out to be honest they insisted on taking the car straightaway and we said take it on weekend would've broke down on us and would have been our headache think in future will just trade in even if it means less money. At least we won't have to be bullied

Have read your original advert, Ash, and your honesty is admirable and your naivity refreshing, but let me apologise on behalf of my fellow human race for what this piece of excrement has put you and yer wee wife through......it totally bloody stinks.

You have done nothing wrong whatsoever, have no liability at all, and have done the right thing in police involvement......now put it behind you and forget scum like that was even allowed to be conceived.

Absolute best regards,

Big Kev

Second that, Ash, although I can't hope to match BK's sartorial eloquence.

I can understand how anxious people can become when faced with such a situation.

Primarliy what originally began as a consumer issue has now become a criminal matter.

Let the police deal with the potential criminal aspect but for piece of mind and re-assurance it would do no harm to seek advice from a consumer advice specialist. That way you are dealing with both aspects.

In the meantime it would be avisable to make no further public comment until the matter is resolved - if only to allow the legal aspect to proceed umimpeded. Implied threats or counter threats by you or anyone else is the last thing you should resort to.

The last thing you want involved in is a slanging match. Proceed quietly and hold your confidence and all will be well in the end.

Am letting police deal with it now. Have also spoken to a close member of the family who works in law and has basically reiterated everything thats been said on here.

Thanks again

Almost all mobiles have an audio record function. I suggest that you record all phone messages and if you have to speak to them again and they are making threats, explain that you are recording these threats and that they will be forwarded to the polce.

Sorry things have gone so wrong. Just stick to your guns and get the police involved.

Any phones mobile or landlines have by law to emit a tone indicating when recording is taking place.......

Cant be difficult to set something up though !

Thanks found a way of doing it using the mrs phone to record as if I try recording from mine it ends the call hopefully after an unexpected knock on the door by the boys in blue pretty sure that'll be the end of it.

That was what I meant. Jur hold the one phones Mic up to the others speaker. It works quite well. I did it when an insurance company dropped the ball and quoted me a stupidly low price that I then accepted after asking them to read back the details and confirm the price.

Hopefully they are just chancing their arm and are all bark, no bite.

Best of luck anyway.
