You can fit any aftermarket 1-din or 2-din unit in place of the original unit and it is a simple operation.

Things to take note of:

1) you'll lose the trip computer (usually so inaccurate it doesn't matter, but may be missing anyway with the sat-Nav option ?)

2) you'll lose the exterior temp info (Same comment as above about if it exists with OEM sat-Nav?)

3) if you want to keep the steering wheel Audio controls, you will need to check what aftermarket units have kits for the Toyota remote controls.

I changed the SatNav on my 2008 4.3 XT5 for a Sony unit with built-in Tom-Tom. I tried every way I know to make the bluetooth phone work with the steering wheel controls but can find no-one who makes a converter that works. The buttons on the other side of the steering wheel that operate the "Mode", "Volume" and "Track" work fine but NOT the bluetooth phone. The Toyota AVCLAN(?) seems to be different to the one that other manufacturers use and it appears that this is the problem.
