Toyota Auris 07 Steering Ecu

Hi all. I've just been told that I require a replacement ECU for the steering. Toyota want almost £600 to replace it. Does anyone k ow if this can simply be unplugged and a new one installed? £600 seams really expensive to be honest any suggestions are warmly welcome!

Toyota have just confirmed that the fault code is c1554

HI guys,have got the dreaded power steering fault tonight and after reading the comments and the links,I decided to take the dash apart and I got to the ecu and unplugged the electrical connectors for a while then put everthing back and still the same.also disconnected the Battery as well and still no joy! anyway just read something about relays failing and this could also fail the ecu,just wondering if there is any truth in this theory,I think they are called the dct relays or something like that,any info would be appreciated,thanks
