Do a search on forums for Warrington meet and there are at least a couple of threads about it. It was back in May 2008.

Wigan pier is a working museum and Wigan is famous for pies so we shouldn't have any problems coaxing a certain person along!!!

Somebody mention pies? :eat:

lol @ Widnes Pier, Jim I think you have been on the Scottish wine :D: Nothing happens in Widnes apart from huge traffic queues over the Runcorn bridge

Wigan Pier is about 40 minutes from me, that'll do fine, nothing to do with pies of course, just saying

Kingo

Technically I was not wrong: Widnes does have the old marsh pier head. Nevertheless, Kingo & Clare are indeed correct - I had a head up the RS moment, should've said Wigan.

Apologies to Wigan....or,er, Widnes....don't know which heaving metropolis would have been offended most by my geo-faux-pas!

I had this mental picture of a meet at Wigan Pier but due to a digital input error, everyone being sent to Widnes instead

On a purely selfish personal note............Widnes is even nearer for me :thumbsup:

Great idea Martin.

How about the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon just south of Coventry?

Pretty central and many of us could reminsce our motoing past driving.gif

http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/visit/getting-here/

I agree, This would be a good place. But is there a good hotel near by if an overnight stay is wanted?

Depends on what folk would want but plenty nearby:

Much as I prefer the Warwick area for my driving to point, I am aware it is a 100 miles closer to me or to put it another way 100 miles further for my Scotlandshire friends. Coventry/Warwick area is central Englandshire rather than central UK, I was thinking of Cumbria, might get the management to agree to that :) for a weekend away.

1. "Sotlandshire friends".....who are these people?

2."May get the management to agree".....who TF invited women partners.....? Lady members, naturally must attend....unless on Gus's last holiday to Thailand he met a lady with a member.....

Witheld......

Your sentiments are to be applauded but Cumbria? We may as well just go to Scotland. Much nicer!

Maybe we should work backwards from this, which was taken from the OS web site.

"The centre of mainland Great Britain is at grid reference SD 723 367 (5.5 km south-west of Clitheroe, between Whalley, Billington and Calderstones Hospital in Lancashire). More precisely, SD 72321 36671 to the nearest metre."

Ok then Warwick :)
