87 Camry High Beam/headlight/tail Light Problems

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Our 1987 Camry has had lots of problems with lights.

For a long time the tail lights have caused intermittent problems with various lights not working and the dashboard warning light on.

But recently the high beams have taken to coming on by themselves and at the same time turning off the headlights, which can be dangerous or at least embarrasing.

Any ideas on what could cause the high beams to come on by themselves?

Looking at the wiring diagram my thought is that it could be the "integration relay" which is the only thing that seems to be involved in all of the above problems. But the manual doesn't say where this is, and ideas on its location?

Thanks very much.

At first glance this would appear to be 2 separate problems. The rear lights are usually caused by a broken wire or two in the harness at the trunk hinge. The high beams could possibly be the switch itself.Check for the relay by listening near the bank of relays while someone works the switch.
