Hi all

Just had this noise appear over the past few days. It only happenes on the speed hump at the end of my road. It sounds like the stereo typical noise for ppl !Removed! in a car lol. I think it happens once iv hit the hump and it comes back down. What do you guys reckon it will be? Im fitting springs to it this weekend so ill give it a check over. My friend seems to think it could be a bush but wouldnt that happen all the time? Im thinking maybe the damper? any help would be great tho.

Sounds like a shock absorber has gone and the car is "wallowing" a bit. Take a look at all the dampers and check for leaks and effectivness

Yh that's what I was thinking. The bushes tend to knock don't they? Ill take a look when I'm doing my springs.

Bushes do knock when worn out..........not likely on your SR180 though..........your s******g description was probably not the best description of the actual noise

It is a different setup to a standard Auris on the SR / T180

Never say never, but ive never seen any bushes changed on one. As for the bushes, you can only change the anti roll bar bush, all the other bushes come in the arms so if one of those has gone, you need to buy an arm at mucho dinerio  Sold a few shock absorbers though

That sounds exactly like the noise I had on an Audi A4. It was a dry ball joint on the front anti roll bar. That car was such a disaster reliability wise I bodged the issue by drilling a 1mm hole in the rubber cover on the joint and injecting it with a mixture of "sloppy grease" (oil and grease mixed together). It took around 3 or days but the joint became silent and there was zero evidence of what had done. Just one of a zillion issues with that car.

It certainly does sound like the anti roll bar bushes - mine does the same, has done for two years. Toyota did grease them at my request but the noise returned after about eight months. Only happens sometimes, but always on the same particular speed bump/uneven part of a particular road.

All the others were fine. ARB and dampers were all ok. Had a fail with the drop link while lowering. Had to cut them off lol.
