ok im picking up my avensis this week and its a hatchback, ive never noticed before and ive been looking about today at all the gen2 avensis and they are all hatchbacks.ive seen

now ive been looking through youtube and seen some well smart avensii and some are saloon that look wicked when lowered with nice wheels

theres not a great deal of difference between the hatch and saloon but just out of curiosity are the saloons available in uk.

oh and dont the wagons look smart as %$( too but couldnt get one in my pricerange with low miles

There is not many but they do exist. Have a look on autotrader; select avensis, then 4 doors.

The only difference I have noticed is the bood lid looks longer on the saloon. and has a very small lip on the end of the bumper. also to me it sits better with alloy wheels.

the new avensis, only comes in saloon & tourer(estate).

thanks yeah seen a couple over the last 2 days only cause i was looking. mostly hatch backs

not much of a difference but the rear quarter panel has a bigger surface area on the hatch and slimmer profile on the saloon if you catch my drift

also slightly longer boot lid on saloon and the you tube vids i was looking at under search of avensis style off have saloons and wagons/tourers with slight lowering and nice wheels etc. ill try posting a side view of my car here to see the difference.

I believe the saloon body Shell is slightly stiffer/stronger due to the metal parcel shelf area of the car having a bracing effect so this body type may be better suited to rough roads. I have noticed saloons are more popular in southern Ireland and they also have different suspension than UK cars.

People I have met who own the saloon say it's more difficult to get stuff in the boot area than the hatchback.

thanks for the feedback. mines looks as if its on stilts but good for the pot holed roads up here in scotland , hatch also good for the pram as wife will mostly use car but i know ill end up dropping it a bit and trying to sharpen it up a bit. ive had subarus with coilovers etc and will prob just fling on a set of -40 springs like i did on my old veccy gsi to give it a nice ride height without being too harsh.

Nice car mate,

I like how that Vectra sits on the road and the negative camber on the back suspension looks good. That can be done all round on the Avensis, camber bolts at the front and the back has built in adjustment already on the car, not sure exactly how many degrees you can get though.

nice exploded view of the rear suspention thanks.

hope the upper control arm bushes have a longer service life than the vectra ones lol

loved that car had every toy going

3.2 v6 was a bit thirsty for the wife mostly town driving.

couldnt justify that fuel cost without the kick of a turbo

never had one bit of bother apart from an exhaust heat shield rattling and needed a repair washer to secure

alot more reliable than my 350 bhp impreza lol

sensible family car for me now. would like a decent land cruiser or maybey double cab hilux in a couple years
