Hey all,

Does anyone know how to remove the gear knob, I want to change mine as it's scratched!

Cheers,

Gav

It simply unscrews Gavin. A new one is about £60 but I believe the metal disc in the top is available separately - contact Kingo for confirmation and a price.

They can be removed and polished or finished with 0000 grade wire wool to get an awesome finish.. I prefer the wire wool finish and this can be done without removing the alloy cap if you carefully mask off the leather to protect it.. I also carefully painted the indents in red to highlight them...

Cheers, the T180 has a plastic top though?

If there is a metal disc available that would be great?

Yes they do Gavin - see posts above.

Contact Kingo for a price and he'll pop one in a jiffy bag for you. Pay him and he'll even post it too

Kingo confirmed they don't do replacement top for T180 and would have to buy complete new gear knob for £100, therefore I'm sticking to my old 1!

Apologies for misleading info. Gavin. Was sure I had read that the insert was available separately. I guess you could re-spray it but I suppose it would wear off again in time.

Certainly not worth £100.............

Kingo as usual has not supplied the full info.....there is also a gearbox attached to the knob at that price.........isn't there......?

Would an Auris / yaris gear knob fit as they got some on eBay for a tenner?!

Dunno, but an Avensis one would.

I reckon any Auris / Avensis knob would fit, the thread is cut into the plastic inside the knob as you screw it on

Big_Kev, you know my knob is the best in town, you have to pay for quality :naughty:

Kingo

I'm having the same problem, although I tried to prise the cap off....DOH!

Eventually I screwed the whole knob off and discovered cap is screwed on.

Might just try and get it painted or recovered.

Shift pattern in red, to go with TRD start button, of course!

Must say the software running this forum must be more relaxed. Some forums I use replace the slightest word that may be considered offensive.

When I typed knob, it posted as door handle. It made communicating technical aspects slightly more difficult
