Help Needed With Noise!

Hello there. My better half replaced her electronically-challenged Clio with a Yaris a while ago. I've had a few Toyotas (Celica 202, Yaris mkI) and recommended it. She has a 2007 T3 1.3, which is a superb car, just like the mkI. However, it's always produced a strange noise when in low revs, under load. It sounds like a hollow chatter, almost like a small exhaust manifol leak. It only happens when in gear and at low revs (up to 2k). It doesn't appear when in neutral (regardless of revs), so is not engine related. I can replicate the sound in any gear, and at the same low revs, so probably not drive shaft. Performance is not affected, but by golly it's annoying.

Anybody else have any issues that sound similar? I'm thinking it might be clutch related.

Air filter housing or something similar may be vibrating, it happens a lot on the Avensis diesel models.

Pete.
