2.0 Diesel Servicing

How are you supposed to get to change the diesel filter on the 2.0 d4d? I can 'only' just see the filter under the housing. Does the air filter box have to come out to make room for getting to the spin on filter? The 1.4 d4d filter thread mentions taking pipes off? Never had to do this on a car so wonder why? Does whole filter and housing have to come out? Sounds a right design mess up!

Might have some brake work to do this year also. Is there anything not obvious that makes changing discs and pads all round difficult? Hidden bolts, pins etc? Might have handbrake cables to change while I'm at the brakes as I'm having to re-tension every 6 months.

Wish Haynes would do a book!

Any one have 'any' idea?

Someone must have done a filter change?

It failed mot on osr handbrake arm stuck in on position although brakes were fine otherwise. Took some freeing off. Got to make sure I give them a squirt of pen oil now, surely a bad part.
