Replacement Yaris Key (Remote Key Fob) (98)

Hi,

I got a replacement key cut for my yaris - the key goes into the ignition but it doesn't turn. I was wondering if this is because I haven't transferred the electronics (scared to incase it needs reprogramming) and maybe an imobiliser isn't being disarmed or something? Or is it just a bad key cut?

if the key itself is not turning, then it probably hasn't been cut properly.

Does it unlock your door?

Maybe you need to go back to the key cutting place and get them to have another go.

What you normally find with immobiliser keys is if they haven't been programmed, then the key will turn and the engine will turn over, but it will either not start or will die after a second.

It's a bad cut, but try it the other way round and see if it works.

I had a new flip-key cut for my current Yaris but it only turns one way for some reason!
