Temp And Fuel Gauge

Ok still new to my Avensis but I have noticed 2 things. So far my temp gauge gets upto just below the half way mark but never over, is this normal?

Secondly I gave the car a full tank of Shell v power and I've now done 45 miles and the fuel needle hasn't come down, the trip is showing 295 miles remaining and has counted down pretty accurately from when I filled up but is it normal for the care to do 40 - 50 miles with the needle not really moving?

Sorry for all the questions guys

Mo

The answer to both the above is yes it's normal.

Thanks for the reply pete, I was worried they were stuck but the needles do drop when when the car is switched off and the temperature needle takes about 5 - 7 minutes to reach to normal temp.

I concur. I find the fuel guage takes a while to start to go down, but on the other hand it goes down quick once under half tank. Temp guage sits about the middle, never above, even on toasty days.

Yep a full tank of v power was £78! but then I saw the guy on the opposite pump filling up his range rover and I felt a little better.

The range seems to be based on the last average mpg, mine normally says 450 miles but I have had just over 600 miles from a tank full in the past, that's fillup to fillup after the fuel light came on so there is still some left in the tank.

I don't normally let it get lower than 1/4 full. I have just added my 6 monthly dose of Forte diesel fuel additive to keep things clean in the EGR dept etc, I'm happy with Forte so not tried the BG244 as yet.

Pete.

If I had filled up as the reserve light came on and put in regular petrol instead of v power I think it would have been under £70 and if I can get 330 - 350 miles out of that im a happy man. Keep in mind my daily commute is from one side of London to the other and usually through heavy traffic. I have now done 101 miles and the trip still shows 257 miles to go.

I sometimes drive my dads Estima and although thats a 2.2 diesel its still very heavy on fuel.
