Recommended Garages For Rav4 Service Lancashire

Can anyone recommend any garages in the Lancashire area that specialise in Toyota repairs/servicing. I'm looking at a 42,000 mile service and Toyota main dealers have quoted £299 plus £39 for brake fluid change and £25 for rear diff oil. A total price of £363.00.

I know it's been a while since I got a RAV4 serviced at a main dealer but it sounds steep to me.......but then again, I could be wrong.

I can recommend my local RRG Bolton..
Their mechanics will discuss any issues with you beforehand .. customer services are A1 and they will usually better most other quotes.
We have bought two new Ravs from them over the last 5 years,so we could be treated as a 'valued' customer,
But still worth a phone call.
Ask about their service plan, its not bad if you do a lot of miles.

What part of Lancashire are you in ? My mate owns an indie (general, not Toyota specialist) in Accrington/Oswaldtwistle and has a

good reputation for service/ repair/ bodyshop etc. If interested pm me and I'll give you details.

Some of you Toyota owners want to read my posting about RRG and my service problems, You can change the diff oil in a few minutes it only holds a cup full, breakfluid a bit more tricky but not hard to do yourself, have a go read some threads don't get ripped off, I work at Bae systems a lot of Toyota owners there I have not had any bad comments about Wigan dealer, But please read my postings I have tried two dealers and not had any good service,,,

If you look at my filter picture this what it was like after paying RRg Bolton £235 ish for a 20,000 mile service

Well I can only speak from my own personal experience.

I've always found RRG bolton to be very fair..

As with most dealers though you should always question them about the work BEFORE they start, and make it clear you know a bit.

Also could mention your a Rav4 club member.

Once you get a detailed job card and a price, then its up to you.

They always contact me first before doing if any 'extra' work, not previously agreed.

I'd say we have a fairly good working relationship, based on trust.

You are correct air filter replacement at 30K but at 20k and paying £235 for the service you would expect RRG Bolton to clean and inspect the air filter as per schedule, But when you doubt the vehicle as only had a oil service you then look in the air filter box and find it full of dried leaves you begin to think what have RRG Bolton actually done? But you also don't like the comment from the service manager who said " I'm really annoyed it should be checked at 20k and we missed a trick here we should have checked it phoned you and told you it needed changing because it's so dirty we missed out on a sale" I replied, XXXXXXXXXXXXXX etc, It's when they tell you the vehicle has a major oil leak and needs a new clutch, 30k later still on the same clutch, and the oil leak was caused by the technician not draining the filter before removing it, If you read my post about the service you will see RRG Bolton tried ripping me off, I was told it would take 2 hours for the 20k service, when they phoned me and told me it was ready to be picked up 55mins after dropping it off something was not right, They said the had put two technician on it (after I asked why so quick) but you have to be aware I booked a Saturday morning service, four weeks in advance becuase Saturdays are so busy, I was shocked to find they had a spare Technician, I was more shocked when I got home and saw the oil dripping onto my carpetted lovely garage floor, I never had one drop till the service, and to find dried leaves in my air box,, RRG Bolton Naff they did a oil service and charged me for a 20k, I complained to Them and directly to Toyota UK and after Toyota UK would not get involed, I had to prove myself the service had not been done, RRG Bolton I believe where systamatically doing this to there loyal customers, I bought three brand new Rav4's from them how loyal do you have to be to get treated correctly, I get asked why I did not let them change my clutch for a new one "I would not let them blow my tyres up", The Rav4 did not need a new clutch,,,, It did need it's EGR valve cleaning, Yep you arre correct based on trust I trusted them to service my vehicle correctly they did not how many of RRB Bolton's customers know if there vehicle is being serviced correctly???

As I said I was only speaking from my own experience, which has been good.
Maybe there's been a change of management.
I always ask for the same technician to do my cars, and watch it being done from the waiting room, and its time well spent.
But I have had a similar experience to yours at a different RRG..they tried to tell me I needed all the discs skimming after 1 yr and 20kmls.
TBH until they know they cant take the p**s many dealers will try it on..as they need the work.
Hope you find someone you can trust.

The disc one was always a money spinner and technically, if there is a ridge or lip in the disc they are only following the brake manufacturer guidlines (not the vehicle or friction material manufacturer guidlines).

However, the new friction material will eat discs by comparison to the stuff that was fitted new right up to the 150 engined models.

Ha..correct.

RRG also informed me that as from today a lit TPS light will be an MOT fail?

Hope this helps members who have binned their runflats.

Correct. See item 4.1 (condition);

http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_410.htm

That's interesting. So the snipping of the pink wire wouldn't be of use then as the light wouldn't come on with the initial checks. But it does say "first used on or after 1 January 2012" so I'm assuming the older cars are fine then?

Is the failure not just if THE LIGHT IS PERMANENTLY ON, therefore indicating a fault....? A fault which more than likely isn't there.....it will more than likely be a SYSTEM fault

The fact that the pink wire is snipped and/or switched will preclude its illumination (good eh?.....Bothy......that means stop it fae lightin' up in the furst place, min.), so Tester will just get on with his life....?

Can only thank certain members on here for making me change from the SR180 which I loved.....runflats, pink wires, switches, lights.....tyres.....cartels......FFS.

I wish I knew..The wording doesnt make it very clear..

Kev..you forgot to mention the small matter of 26 mpg urban cycle.

Most Toyota dealers I have used and I have been driving Toyota's since 1993 use your vehicle as a Cash Cow they only want to make money from you and your vehicle, If all Toyota drivers checked there vehicles after the service they would be suprised at what as and what is not being done, I don't believe my experience is islolated? But keep living the dream Toyota have been caught out and even been in front of the American senate not for building great cars I might add but living on there loyal, dare I say ignorant customers, They will not make any more cash from me...
