06 Avensis Hatchback Wheel Change

I have an 06 Avensis Hatchback 2.0 petrol with 17" low profile tyres. I am thinking of changing the wheels to 16" and hope to reduce road noise with more chance of avoiding wheel or tyre damage. Some wheels that are available are described as

Tyre size - 205 55R 16
Pcd - 5 x 114.3
Offset - ET45
Wheel width - 6.5J

and are said to be suitable only for diesel cars. Is this correct? Does anyone have any views on the percieved benefits of such a change?

I've got 16" alloys ... not only a better ride, but much cheaper tyres!

ive got 16" 8 spoke originals as in my avatar

they soak up the road well and i think its the 55 profile ive got on there

bit of road noise still ,but it could be the cheap tyres the previous owner put on, or the avensis chassis

im going the other way when funds allow
