No, what they have done is simply swapped the face over to a MPH one, so it only goes up to 110MPH (180KPH) The odometer etc is still in Km (shame id love to do 400 miels to a tank) :D

I tend to take it easy in mine, comes from crashing one of my other cars off the side of an embankment into a forest and missing a tree by litterally an inch - what a special feeling that wasnt!

My MR2 has a K&N induction kit but no other mods engine wise. I think the fastest Ive taken it is around 110 - 115mph. Seemed to be loving it from what i remember. So much so that you could kinda feel the car starting to pull forward without you having to really accelerate that much

160 in a mk2 mr2 n/a?

Post some specs?

yep m8. according to the speedo tho. but theyre not really that accurate past a certain point so it wasnt a literal 160mph.

just a stock rev1 n/a w. k&n + mongoose.

I hav2 say tho i was thinking about it a little more and i did kinda cheat.

There was a slight downhill so that woulda helped me along, heh.

:)

Standard speedo's are very unreliable at anything over 80/90mph.

So if you were doing 130 on the clock, it's probably more like 120...

The cars at work can sometimes read 105 on the speedo, but only 92 on the digi-display.

Sorry to but in, not that it has ever stopped me b4

I have had my girl up to 140 mph and I have checked that it is mph but then we started to do that shaking thing so I slowed down, My Dad was with at the time, think he might of pooed himself. :P

So I am guessing what with speedos not being 100% accurate that I was perhaps only doing 125/130 mph maybe even 135 which is not bad.

PS. I in no way what so bloody ever condone speeding :lol:

Ive said it before and I'll say it again. There is a high likelyhood that your gonna spill your beer at those kind of speeds.

And getting the heavy T-bar glass off can be tricky at anything over 105mph

then ya gotta figure in diff tyre sizes / widths etc...

iv had 130 out of my n/a

Naughty ;)

I know i know :!Removed!:

but... in my defence, mr2's were made for three things...

1) speed

2) drifting

3) me.

:D :D :D :D

MR2s were made for drifting?

I dunno about that... They were made for fantastic turn-in and spin-out though! ;)

Even Keiichi "Drift King" Tsuchiya has a bit of trouble with mid engined cars!

and the short wheel base dosen't help.

And then the worst thing you can do is get stiff suspension and low profile tyres on heavy rims ..

D'OH ..

i wonder how "good" he could get if he practiced in the mr2 all the time!.

still it was a tubby aswell if i remember rightly, or am i imagining that?

My bro pulled out 142 mph in a ST202 celica b4 (same rev3 3sge engine) so im sure mr2 NAs are easily capable of such speeds with their superior aerodynamics. Ive taken my tubby to 154 b4 only once when I just bought it (bone stock) which was highly stupid as Im on V rated tires...never knew at the time  . I had to slow down due to traffic up front couldve still go on.

Since tuning I think its not the high speed figure itself thats great...its the sheer acceleration. One sec your at 80mph and bang youll be doin 120+ in an instant. The speedo just climbs so rapidly...and thats 80mph roll-on in 5th.

Blo0dy great.

top end is limited to the 5th ratio .. as it'll hit 7200 rpm .. as long as you have the same box, 300 bhp and 600 bhp will have the same top speed (you'll just get there at different speeds).
