'89 Corolla Engine Upgrade/swap

Hi all,

I own a beautiful '89 Corolla with 195,000 miles on her. The body is about perfect and it rides really great. It also has a really nice sound system. Custom tires and wheels. It is charcoal grey with tented windows. My daughter drove it without oil a couple of days ago and slung a rod. It is carbureted. I am wanting to get a used fuel injected engine and convert it to fuel injection. Is this a real pain? Could an '89 Camry 2000 fuel injected engine work too? I have the chance to buy a very good 4A-FE engine at a really good price. Will this work by changing the underhood wiring harness and attachments? Please let me know. Thanks a lot,

Jerry Lewis

if you can get a 4A-GE complete with loom and ecu then it should be a fairly straight swap and would give you between 120-130bhp
