But our Rav lives on! After 4 weeks off the road after 6th gear exploded near Derby on the M1. Many frustrating phone calls to people who had gearboxs and much waiting I had a 2nd hand gearbox fitted by the chaps at GRS in Blaydon. So far so good.

Came close to breaking the car up an buying an XC90 last week. But have gone for the better the devil you know approach.

Well what can I say to that big kev!

FYI while the old girl was off the road I had a hire car that was awesome 13 plate VW Golf 1.4TSI with DSG gearbox. I clocked up just shy of 4000 miles in it an must say I'd buy one if I didnt need the space. Amazing engine for a 1.4 and so smooth to drive. Only thing I didnt like was the stop start stuff.

PS still havent killed off the idea of the ovlov totally as our second car but have found out to avoid pre 54 plate versions, go for ones with non GM gearbox and that rear wheel bearings are a common fault as car be high tyre wear.
