Yaris Starting Problem In The Morning

Hi,

On a few occasions the car refuses to start the first time in the morning. The engine will turn but will not start. I have to pump the accelerator a few times whilst the engine is turning and it will eventually start.

The car has been serviced and the plugs have not been changed as they are the Iridium ones I am told and the car has only done 20K.

It';s a Yaris 1.33vvti 2009 SR model.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Could be several things. The most likely in a car four years old is that although you say the car is turning over, is it doing so fast enough? If the ECU does not receive a signal from the crank angle or cam sensor, not sure which one but it does not matter, that the engine is not turning at around 300r.p.m. it does not switch on the fuel pump. A good test is to jump start from a large Battery, if that cures the problem then your Battery is weak and needs replacing.

Regards Geoff Peace.

Hi I've recently just purchased a 2009 SR Yaris and am facing the same troubles as the OP. Did you get down to the bottom as to what was wrong? I cleaned the plugs in mine and it is still not starting :(
