Boot

Hi guys,

I have a 2006 Avensis 1.8 vvti hatchback. I have opened the boot and have found a lot of stones on the right and left sides when I lifted the carpet up. It is deep In the sides past the carpeted area on bare metal. And also water in the spare wheel well, I know there is 2 rubber seals there.

How do these get there?

Thanks

Maybe it's as simple as a previous owner has carried some gravel stones in the boot and the bag has split

The water in the wheel well could be a displaced or cracked sealing rubber

yes it could be that but I also thought that it May be a common problem and when I put my hand down there I felt a round rubber thing which seemed loose so I pushed it down. I took of the two rubber seals in the spare wheel well and put them back on, I dried the boot with a towel so fingers crossed it should be ok now.

Thanks for the reply

When I got my car it had exactly the same problem. Plus there was grass all inside the wheel arches. Then I found some golf entry passes and it all made sense.

Thanks for the replies guys.

It must be that the previous owner has had gravel in the car or plays golf or something lol.
