Error Codes P0057 And P0154

Been having issues with white smoke from the exhaust. The engine management light was on so I checked and it was showing an error code of P0057 which was bank 2 sensor 2. I reset the code and it would pop back within 5 miles of driving. Yesterday checked again and I had the same code showing but also P0154. Could this be the cat causing these sensors to go off?

Thanks for the reply Robster. Im not so clued up with engines and my mechanic seems to be quite dismissive these days. I need to find a mechanic in london who can take a look. Was looking at tech one in sidcup. Any suggestions? dont want to go to the main dealer as it expensive and they dont always get it right first time.

I have been having uneven idling since the codes have popped up. My idle seems to drop to 600 every now and again and i can feel a slight vibration through the steering. If I touch the accelerator and get the revs to 800 the engine gets nice and quite and there is next to no vibration, you can hardly tell its even started.

dont know much about your engine setup but id look at the harness and plugs going to the lambda sensors.

then start checking the sensor heater circuits and feedback.

i think the 2 you have codes for are to the left

one before and one after cat so sounds ok as you still have a code before cat

am i right in thinking pin 1 and 2 on each lambda shouls read between 1.8 to 3.8 ohms or similar?

i could be totally wrong as i say havent worked on this engine

sure someone will add more input

have you changed your spark plugs recently? may be needing a new set, can cause stupid problems sometimes

Rob checked the plugs and pushed the wires a little and now I'm back to the original fault code of just P0057. Funny how these sensors cause soo much grief. I had a Carina GTi for years without any problems and my dad still has an old Estima and again it's never missed a beat. I just wish cars could be simpler and less electrical sometimes.
