Yaris Likes The Gutter

My 1.4 diesel yaris has only done 6000 miles. In the last month I have had the problem of the car steering to the left. The car was returned to the dealers to be fixed. In the same waiting area there were 2 other yaris owners complaining about a same problem ( car less than a year old pulling to the left). The technicians refused to acknowledge the problem and suggested that I had been driving off road causing damage to the suspention.as if!!!!

I would appreciate hearing from people with similar stories, as I refuse to believe that this is NOT a manufacturing problem. I have also been following Toyota's reaction to similar problems with the Camery.

tosspot toyota mechys at their best again (and thats no disrespect to the good ones!)

sounds like you have a major tracking error on the car which can be rectified quite easily by a good company that uses proper laser alignment.

also to take into concideration is that cars natuarally (but only slightly) will pull to the left as this supposidly helps the dimwits from veering onto the other side of the road! (its true!)

plus the road surface is on a slight camber for drainage purposes

thats true, but it shouldnt really affect it too much.

there were a few members as well who had the same problem, but as Jaxx said, best have it re-aligned

my previous experience of miss alignment is a significant shake from the steering wheel at speed.

that means the wheels are then out-of-balance and that will need doing aswell

I am Glad to hear that I am not he only one, I have complained to my Toyota dealer several times and they keep insisting it due to the road camber angle, and at I have driven several other cars and it has never happened.

I took my yaris to a non Toyota tire specialist and got it check with laser alignment and amber angels and the works, and everything looks ok, the guys actually show me the computer reading.

The yaris is still pulling to the left, to keep the car going straight even on a flat road, I have the keep steering wheel turned slightly to the right (about 5 degreed from the vertical). If at any time you let go of the steering wheel, the car starts to turn to the left. It is almost as if the left hand side tire is small than the right. I have checked tire pressure and even changed the tires, aligned, balanced, still no luck.

My last resort is to write to Toyota UK directly, if anyone has a contact no for them or an address I will much appreciate it. :(

The customer care number for Toyota is: 0870 8505533

Email customercare@uk.toyota-fs.com

I will be also contacting them and I hope other owners of these lemons do the same.

Good Luck
