Glacier White On Yaris Hsd - Touchup Paint Unavailable

I recently bought an ex-Toyota group Yaris HSD for my Mrs as a replacement for her Prius company car. This was Pearl white and the dealer said the Glacier and Pearl colour touchups were identical. Wrong. The Pearl is 'whiter'.

So I trot off to the dealers to get a Glacier White touchup. Bloke in parts was gone for ages, and finally came back and said that the Glacier White was unavailable, and phoning Toyota was told it would 'never' be available!!! WTF?.

I have a couple of small stone chips on the car to remedy, and the Prius's Pearl White sticks out like a sore thumb, so wonder if anyone here has a Glacier White that has managed to get a touchup paint for it. Pretty poor show on Toyota's part.

Hi

Think they're telling you rubbish.

According to Toyota Colour Codes Glacier White is coded 040, which should be readily available. However there is also a Glacial White (coded 045) which may not be so common.

Check the code on the car's data plate, if no luck with Toyota then try eBay.

Your dealer should have entered the correct colour code on the first page of your Service & Warranty booklet. Colour code 040 is the colour of my Auris - listed in the Auris brochure as 'Pure White' and on the touch up kit (which was readily available) as 'Super White'.

According to the Toyota website and the Yaris Hybrid brochure, the Yaris HSD is available in '068 Cirrus White' and '084 Glacier Pearl'.

There are a few different whites on Yaris HSD

040 Pure Whit, available in a touch up

084 Glacier NOT available at the moment, will probably be available as stickerfix in the future

068 Cirrus White, ONLY available as Stickerfix, no touch available and probably wont be

They are moving away from touch up sticks to stickerfix, but at £31 plus VAT a tad expensive

PLEASE use the colour code when ordering, the amount of people who invent their colour after a few years amazing, I am regulary asked for Midnight Blue or Bonfire red or some other such nonsense  The colour code can be found on the VIN plate, bottom row, first 3 digits

Pity they're moving towards Stickerfix only, the touch up pens are far better. In saying that maybe Stickerfix has improved, I used it about 7 or 8 years ago, and a very small seam/outline was still slightly noticable, pointed out to me by a 'friend' who wanted to gloat.

Apologies for duff gen - the website I looked at quoted code 040 as Pure White/Super White/Glacier White/Alpine White - but think it may have been an Oz site.

Hadn't realised there were so many variations on a (colour) theme!

Is 040 Pure White not available in stickerfix (I prefer this to the touch up kit I have)? If it is available, could you pm the price to me. Thanks.

Mine is 084 - Glacier Pearl White which as Parts-King has said is not available. And my dealer parts 'guru' had never even heard of Stickerfix as I wanted a sheet to do a 'fix' on the edge of our Prius bumper before it goes back to the company car scheme.

I have ordered some paint from a company on the net that 'reckons' they can match any colour from your car reg .... Hmmm ... we'll see.

I'd never heard of Stickerfix either. So I found a Toyota ad for it on Youtube. I have to say it looks rubbish even in that, so goodness knows what it's like in reality.

My mistake, stickerfix IS available in 040, PM to follow

Stickerfix is very good for scratches, maybe not so good for a stone chip, but I have found the colour match to be very good. You could just as easily say a touchup stick is rubbish on a scratch

  • 3 weeks later...

Managed to get a 3rd party paint supplier to supply the correct paint, which is in THREE parts. There is a coloured base coat, part 2 is like the clear coat but contains the pearlescent bits, and then you have the clear coat.

For small stone chips, I doubt I'd bother with part 2, just touch in the base coat colour and then touch on some clear.

If anyone needs the info for the supplier, let me know. Took 3 weeks to arrive though.
