Hiace Regius Mpv

I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A HIACE REGIUS 8 SEAT MPV, ENGINE STATED 2980 TURBO DIESEL, WHEN TURNING OVER THE STARTER SEEMS VERY NOISY, MILEAGE IS 77.000 KMS, IT THIS A TRAIT OF THIS ENGINE?????CAN ANY ONE ASSIST.

AS NEW TO THIS VEHICLE AM NOT AWARE OF THE BEST PLACE FOR SERVICE PARTS, ANYONE ASSIT WITH THIS ASLO

Parts - from toyota - or get part number from toyota and get it cross referenced at local motor factor for a cheaper alternative.

Re: noisy starter - not sure what you mean.

Are you waiting for the glow plug light to go out before starting?

If you are it should start without any 'churning'.

If you have to crank it, the glow plugs may be ready for renewal.

On mine, it seems to start on the first revolution......

THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE, I NOTICE NOW THE GLOWPLUG INDICATOR ONLY STAYS ON FOR AROUND 1/2 SECONDS, THIS SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM, HENCE THE NOISY CRANKING, I THINK THE PLUG LAMP SHOULD BE ON LONGER TO WARM THE CYLINDERS, I WOULD GUESS THAT THERE IS A TIMING DEVICE TO HOLD THE HEAT ON UNTIL WARM THEN THE LAMP GOES OUT, ANY IDEAS,

Realised the Regius is the new generation hiace. Initially assumed it was the supercustom variety.

Anyway, I think its regulated by the temp sensor. The figures for testing were published a month or 2 back under a hiace posting.

If you get the correct engine manual (around a tenner) from Toyota- then the figures for your engine should be in it.
