Last saturday i done a track day at Castle Combe in my AE86 which was all very exciting, especially because i was racing my mate in his modified 106 Rallye pushing about 140bhp, and i may also add my standard AE86 engine was pulling away from him!

Until i was starting to feel me brakes get a little spongey which i thought was fairly normal considering they were getting a hammering, but then coming in2 the quickest corner of the track, pulling about 115mph i stomped on the brakes and there wasnt much effect!

My brain was working in overdrive thinking i would rather throw a rod than crash it so i pushed the brakes as hard as possible including the handbrake and dropped it in2 2nd, the engine screamed its nuts off and so did the tyres whilst trying to lock up, but thankfully i just threw it in and it took the corner quite well considering!

I finished off by doing my lap of honour and then pulling in2 the pits!

The problem with the brakes was that i boiled the brake fluid and at the same time damaged the seals in the master cylinder!

All in all great fun!!!! haha.

Sounds nasty! Seems like sorting the brakes is one of the most important things before a track day.

Glad you came through it!
