Hey guys,

I've got myself a 2004 54 plate toyota avensis 2.0 d4d, I was just wondering if there was a guide on how to change the glow plugs on one or if anyone could help me :)

any help would be much appreciated and thanks in advanceg

I've not changed them on an Avensis but generally they're similar to changing spark plugs. Remove the connectors, clean around the plug, unscrew, remove and refit. It's not uncommon for them to be VERY tight tho, so use a decent well fitting socket - hex if possible, and do the job with a hot engine for easier removal (but more burnt fingers).

Hello,

have a look at the picture I have posted, click on the thumbnail to enlarge it) it shows one of the four glow plugs and the strap that joins all of them together electrically.

Disconnect the neg Battery lead first then remove the link strap from across all four glow plugs and proceed as Alan333 has already told you too.

Pete.

Thanks a bunch guys :D

going to have a crack at it tomorrow, do glow plugs snap at all? I have denso plugs waiting to go in.

Also if they do snap how would I get the bit stuck inside out? I want to be prepared just incase lol

Thanks again

It has been known for glow plugs to snap however it's never happened to me personally. Maybe because I use a decent hex socket and do them on a warm engine - or maybe just luck?
