Commodore 64

The first edition, not the one with the nice curves

Just remembered one I had before that...

Can't remember what it was called but it only played "pong" and had two permently connected controllers with rotating dial things to control your paddles. Green and white colour scheme :!Removed!:

Man you lot are all ancient

No we're not!

nobody's mentioned owning an Enigma decoder as a child, or playing with the original Charles Babbage Difference Engine.

Did anyone have Big Trak ? programmable articulated truck that went into the next room and came back with a Banana (as long as you followed it and put the banana in the back yourself............Hmmmmmm). Apparently this was the start of the home electronics lark. Revolutionary at it's time. It actually had more computing power than NASA had for the moon/Area 51 landing in 1969.

yeh - after the 600 edition they changed the operating system on the 1200 was it? ... anyway - was much like the MAC OS but none of the previous amiga software would run on it which of course didnt help its popularity. Think was majorly something to do with the megga increase in its colour capabilies.

Shame, because they were damned fine machines. Still are, as you can still get all the up-to date technology for amiga systems and has created a select following - theres a couple clubs out there for them

ZX Spectrum - First game was Manic Miner. Brilliant!

I did try my hand at programming from the magazines. Never worked!

Supprised no one has mentioned the 'Commodore Vic 20'... had a seperate cassette drive.. had wicked games on it...

Then moved to the Atari 2600!... and Pong!!... what a game!

Then the Master System / Master System 2 / Game boy / Game Gear / Snes / PS1 / PS2 / Xbox....

Somewhere along the lines i started my PC owner ship with a 386 SX!!

Bearcat, I thought the ZX81 came out in 1981, hence the name.

My first puter was a ZX81, which I got in 1982.

Yes I also spent hours typing those stupid programmes that didn't work.

I still have the ZX81 and printer in my parents loft and a dodgy old atari console in its box, with asteroids and golf. I couldn't part with them. Every so often I have to plug them in and remind myself of 'modern technology'.

Can't believe I have owned a computer(s) for 22 years! I feel old.

it had lovely rubberey keys that did more than one function and you would spend hours trying to find the key with the word on that you wanted aarrrr they were the days

My 1st was a Grandstand, which i think was a blatant rebadge of an Atari which featured 1 cart with a handful of games on it.

Atari 2600.

The best thing is i got it out of the loft about a month ago and and started using it again. When the lads and i have had a few, tennis with square blocks and pacman is just the best games ever!
