just use your hands i've never needed the use of an oil filter removal tool! just have it warmed up and drain oil then remove filter.should only be hand tight anyway! if not get a adjustable tool like the rubber strap type...poundstretcher has them.

Thanks guys, looked at a youtube clip n' thought defo needed a tool. have a chain strap but will not use that as its not a cannister so will get a rubber one just in case!

Forgot to ask, are there any undertrays/plates to take off first like the passat, or is it easy access? Cheers Nick

A single 10mm screw holds a cover flap in place. You will probably find a corresponding hole in the main cover to hold it open using the same screw.

Oh, and mine was on so tight I had to use a modified adjustable filter tool to remove it. Thanks to the Toyota dealers who serviced it in the past......

Over the years I have used most things from a leather belt to a screwdriver through the filter (apparently what the old-boys used to use - though very messy!)

Since I service my car myself and always use latex gloves, I generally are able to undo the filter by hand.

Thanks guys, will get oil/filter sorted n' get on with it. Mine has full Mr. T service so just hope it won't be too tight!
