Hi, I have a Yaris on an 11 plate and when it gets down to one bar on the fuel guage it starts to flash and says I need to get fuel as soon as, can anyone tell me how much fuel is left when it does this?

Thanks

It is not an exact science! But you have at least 5 litres left. I have seen salesmen drive around with the warning light burning your eyeballs out without running out of fuel

Seriously though, you should be filling up before getting that low

I remember when I had a hire car from Toyota they estimated 50 miles left on a red-light - could be complete rubbish though!

With the Mk 2 Yaris Diesel I had I let it go down to 2 bars once, on purpose, in an attempt to find out what fuel remained at one bar. I left it for a few miles to wait and see when the last bar started to blink. When it showed 41 miles remaining on the trip computer, hadn't progressed to the blinking one bar, I chickened out and filled up. The 42 litre tank took 37.1 litres so according to that I had 4.9 litres left. It was possibly on the verge of the one bar indication?

I'm constantly amazed at how much is left in mine after the single bar starts flashing. Twice I've pooped me pants and pulled into a garage (not for that reason) and filled the tank. Then I stand there wondering why it still had 6 or 7 litres still in it. I've never been close to the 45 litres it states in't handbook. Its a 99 V reg by the way. Mind you, one of my bikes has an analogue fuel gauge that goes onto reserve and still has 10 litres in it - !Removed! annoying. John
