Offside Door Mirror - Is Is All One Piece? It's Not Now!

Hello my lovelies :)

Long time no speak - but that's the trouble with these darn Toyotas; so trouble free!

Some knuckle dragging moron has managed to hit my driver's side door mirror whilst I was at work

It was hanging by the wire and I have managed to wedge it back in place with judicious use of superglue and duct tape (black naturally darling). It will 'do' for just now, but my poor Rav is really feeling the pain of being a Londoner-each corner now has a scrape; all done when I wasn't 'in residence.'

Can I just get the brackety bit - or do I have to purchase a whole mirror? If the full Monty, how much is this likely to cost? I don't know whether to try and source one via a parts place or second hand through ebay; or just to take it to my local garage (not main dealer) and just bear the pain.

It is a 55 reg XT4, if I recall correctly this is a 4.2 is it not?

Thanks - I hope this finds all you old timers fine and dandy!

Jools :group-cuddles:

Hi,

it looks like the going rate on eBay is £40-50 for Rav4 door mirrors. I would hazard a guess that Mr T's price would be up in the hundreds, so it would be second hand for me.

I have an XT3 and if your mirrors are anything like mine then I would be inclined to replace the entire unit and swap over the colour coded plastic shroud on the unit assuming that you don't get an exact match.

If you supplied the mirror then any decent independent garage should be able to sort it out without too much trouble. An hours work at most.

Hope you get it sorted out.

Thank you for your reply. Him Indoors took a cursory look at it and said he thought it was a two-part affair as there was a screw underneath it. I did a search on here and thought that wasn't the case (he is a black cabbie so is never wrong- I tend to do a bit of sideline digging then veer off). eBay it is then, once the pain of this quarter's gas bill subsides!

The duct tape is holding up quite well, apart from the heat melting it a little in today's ever so hot sun in this 'ere Sarf Lahndan! :D
