Well, Zeroblades comment about tax in the other thread has promted me to 'go off on one!!!!'

Basically, its that time of the year, when Im filling out my tax return form I get very annoyed at the amount of money the goverment takes off me...!!! :ffs:

In the last 12 months, I paid enough income tax to *************!

On top of that is VAT on everything i've bought!

Then theres the daylight robbery that is the tax on ciggies and petrol!!!

Grrrrrrrrrr :ffs: :censor:

The one that gets me is inheritance tax - work all your life and pay tax - with the money thats left struggle to buy a home and when you are finally so knackered that you keel over your kids pay tax again on THEIR family home that you have left them and paid for with wages that have already been taxed on.

Deep breath. 1 . . 2 . . 3 . .

yeah, but you dont need to drive a car do you?

Get my point? I smoke, i enjoy it, but when we pay 3 times the tax on ciggies compared with the rest of europe.. thats just victimisation!

I drive a car yes, i don't smoke therefore i won't be admitted to hospital with sum sort of disease which could have been avoided if u didn't smoke! Ur overloading an already overloaded NHS with ur un-necessary smoking habit! Bring on smoking banned in all public places like in New York!

Cheers

Ian,

Cant you just cash in your air-miles, you must have accrued a few in last ummm, fortnight, month, year??

Your frequent flyer loyalty rewards must be worth a fortune LOL :P ;)

I had a friend in a stressfull job who quite smoking, but then started again a month later, she wsaid the onlything she found to help her unwind was a glass of wine when she got home, and decided a smoker was better than an alcoholic!!

dont .. get .. me .. started ..

When (after Tax, NI and VAT) the government takes over half YOUR cash before you see it ..

And then more Tax on booze and petrol .. and then anything you wanna do after that, you get fleeced by the rest of the country..

I wish i could swap my miles for money!!! I'd have a TVR for weekends!!

And your right Dave, I have a very stressful job, and smoking helps...

Oh and Ryan, 2 points for you, just to knock you off your high horse...

1. The amount of money generated through tax on cigarettes pays for 85% of the NHS annual budget, so if no-one smoked, then we would have a crisis on our hands!

2. If im admitted to hospital with a diease, it wont be overloading the NHS, because I have private healthcare, which i pay for seperatly :P

I mean, the most dangerous thing you can do in this country is to drive on A-roads (statistically proven)... so I'll make you a deal, you stop driving on ANY A-road, risking serious injury or death (which would be a strain on the NHS..) and I will stop smoking...

According to the press last week, Obesity is the single greatest strain on the NHS.......but nobody is suggesting that people stop eating.

Smoking is legal. Heroin (say) isn't.........yet, if you're a heroin addict there are vast armies of support and help groups and we're almost conditioned to think of addicts as victims who need help. If you smoke, though, you're looked upon as inconsiderate scum. That ain't right surely.

I've never mugged anyone or gone out burgling to feed my L&B habit.

well said that man!!

Lets be honest, if i was an alcoholic, or as above, a heroin addict, I could get treatment on the NHS..., yet if i want to quit smoking, i have to fund it myself, and the NRT costs more than the cigarettes!!!

I found that Nicoteen chewing gum too expensive ..

A packet of Orbit and 20 B&H though, tastes better and is far cheaper ..

I'm thinking about taking up smoking again, but I'm going to start with the patches and work my way up ..

well actually...

there were talks of "fat" tax. junkfoods would have tax placed on em this was to "discourage" people from unhealthy foods (yeh rite, just another excuse for the soddin govmnt to make money)...

imagine that 99p burger + VAT what the hell kinda crap is that :ffs:

can't rem if it included chocolate, crisps etc.

I thought it was quite funny that MacD's sell a caesar salad. The dressing was tested by some lab somewhere and found to contain more fat than the burgers. Know your market eh?

What gets me is...

I pay my income tax and have done since I was 17 and started working....

Me and my partner struggled to afford a mortgage for our house and even though we are first time buyers and the market needs people like us to continue to grow, we got no help whatsoever from the government to help us get on this ladder....... people on benefits get houses no problem.

When we move in, we will not only have to pay a mortgage, but also pay for home improvements, new bathroom suite perhaps, furniture etc etc.............. people on benefits get this for nothing.

And the funny thing is - I am not only paying for my house and my stuff, but also these peoples stuff aswell through my tax! :ffs:

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for helping people who need it but imho there are too many people committing benefit fraud and its us lot who pay for them!

That annoys me more than anything. VAT doesnt bother me and as I dont smoke I dont buy fags anyway. The cost of petrol annoys me though!

Too many taxes, and not enough help for people who actually pay them! Where are our tax credits? Oh I forgot, we dont "contribute" enough to society by bashing out 15 kids and sitting on our bums claiming benefits.... :censor:

As you can tell, this topic slightly peevs me! :D

so it should angel. but i guess thats the only way people can get by in this world. i used to think that people who didnt work and skivvied off the council were all bums who should go out & get a job. And those that blamed it on where they lived, or how they were raised for their current lifestyles. The majority of them are just caught in an endless loop, that they cannot get out of no matter how hard they try.

Think about it... if ur offering a decent job who are u gonna giv it 2. the fella that comes in a nice new suit, or the guy that looks likes he's wearing his grandad's old suit ?

they're immediatly stereotyped & disregarded.

so they have no choice but to accept this fact and do what they can to "earn" money. they know that by having 15 kids and being single mothers the govmnt will give em more money hence they do it because they have no other alternative...

there are those who just leech for the sake of it tho, and its them that r the scum of this world!

this mite sound weird comin from me "a bum, who doesnt pay tax" but after uni i'm gonna be riddled with debt, and then face having to pay all the taxs' like u all, not summin i'm lookin forward 2!

!Removed! hell, what have i just typed up there? not really like me... but i'll post it neway cos i've typed all that out, lol.

I know I must sound evil after writing all that - I'm not - I'm the first to help people in trouble....

Just annoys me that I work so hard and can afford so little and people get stuff handed to them!!

I dont begrudge anyone on benefits that need it, my best mate is on them, had 2 kids with her ex who then dumped her for her mate (no not me before anyone asks!). She used to work in a care home with the elderly after giving birth to her 2nd child and would alternate shifts with her ex so they could take turns looking after the children - when he left her she had no choice but to quit her job and take benefits - he wasnt giving her any money for the children and she needed money.

Now she has a new partner and wants to get back into work but through lack of experience and not much money between them for childcare - she cant. It is an endless loop.

I dont begrudge her getting stuff she needs from my taxes, its the people who take the mick out of the system that do my nut!!

Its different if your studying though ZeroBlade, as you are still doing something and at the end will be qualified etc. I'm all for paying taxes to put people through uni and to fund the NHS, I just dont wanna line the fat cat execs pockets! :D

Are you putting a strain on the NHS if you die? what would you need a doctor for?? you'd be dead :D

Apart from the fact that you have to be processed and certified dead by a Doctor. Ambulance to collect the remains, Bereavement counsellors for the relatives etc. etc. etc.

Stay at home, it's much safer. I'm really reclusive and because of this I have never been killed on the roads !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, apart from the excellent information above, your also most likely to be involved in an accident, and if you dont die, then most likely you will need some medical attention...

Hence putting more of a strain on the NHS... it was really a case in point.. and judging by the lack of reply from the person it was aimed at, I'd say the point hit home nicely...
