Which Phone Do You Use With Touch & Go ?

Hi.

Using the tech requirements from the Touch & Go manual and checking the recommended compatible phones from the Toyota Touch & Go website I bought a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 to use with both the satnav and hands free phone system.

The T&Go phone system works fine with the phone and I have entered many contacts and their addresses. The problem is that when using the Satnav and using the phone book for the destination the satnav could not find one address! But, if I entered the same address directly into the satnav there was no problem finding the address and locating it on the mapping.

If I selected the address directly within the phone system the message 'Address not found on map' appeared.

I do not want to have to enter all my contacts addresses twice, once in the phone and again in the satnav and then have to keep them both up to date when I should not need to if the phone was really 'compatible'.

What phone do you use and will the address function work with the T&Go satnav? I.e will the satnav navigate to an address in your phone and if so what phone, make and model do you use?

I feel it is very misleading of Toyota to state that the phone is compatible with the T&Go system which includes the function to navigate to a destination from the phone book. If the phone is compatible it should work with all the functions of the satnav, or, Toyota should advise that if a phone is not compatible with some aspects of the system.....

Regards

Alan.

  • 3 weeks later...

I am sure someone must use a mobile with the Touch & Go in a 2012 model Avensis?

Toyota has, after 4 weeks still not provided an answer as to why the satnav cannot navigate to a phone book address which it is supposed to do according to the T&G manual with a phone that fits the required specs and is recommended by themselves on the Toyota T&G website !!

So far the Toyota Customer relations dept have been very unforthcoming and unresponsive about this. Time will tell.

In my opinion the car is not as described in its functionality, If it states it should something, it should do it. As it stated the satnav works with a phone books addresses it should do exactly that, if it does not then it is not as described.....

Regards

Alan.

I don't have a 2012 model (yet) so can't comment from personal experience. However it might be worth you trying a Lexus forum as I believe it is the same SatNav system, maybe someone there has come across the same problem.

I know bluetooth can be a nightmare, I currently have an 58 plate Avensis, but I also had a new shape 09 plate for a while and have experienced various degree's of compatability depending on which phone I was using.

I used to work on behalf of two major phone manufacturers (Training and technical support) and literally had access to every model ever made. We also had old and new shape Avensis's on the fleet and we went through quite a few different phones trying them on the old and new shape cars. Some worked in the new one car but not the old one, some worked in the old one but not the new one, some didn't work at all, and there were various degrees of incompatability in between. Quite irritating because our company phones worked in the old car but wouldn't connect properly to the new one despite being listed as compatible.

We did raise the issue both to Toyota as a business customer, and to the R&D dept of the phone manufacturer. Guess what, each blamed the other.

Good luck !

Gentlemen.

Thanks for the replies, Toyota have responded to my problem and it seems that although the phone I bought on their recommendation as being 'tested and compatible' is in fact not so! Well, only in part and of course not in the part that I need. They have advised they will keep in touch with their Technical Department' and will contact me once they have appropriate information.

I did check the bluetooth compatibility section website and the specs in the manual, and so arrived at the phone that fitted all criteria.

I cannot find a search link on the Lexus Forum and it seems a bit OTT just to register for one search, however I may have to if nothing else turns up.

Cheers

Alan.
