Auris 1.4 D-4-D 2008

We loved our Auris. Nice looking, comfortable, smooth, economical..

Until it had done 87000 miles (6 months ago) when the head gasket went.

Toyota quoted £7500 to repair but advised replacing the engine at a cost of £8500

We actually had it repaired at an independent garage which cost £3500

We've also had to have a new starter motor - £320

And to top it all off now we need to replace an ECU at a cost of £750, which unbelievably Toyota do not have in stock anywhere in the UK and we're waiting for one to arrive from Belgium

All this despite it being religiously serviced every 10000 miles

Would I recommend an Auris 1.4 D-4-D? Yes, but get rid before it hits 85000 miles and bankrupts you. Advise I was given right from the start and to my cost ignored.
