Front Bumper Coming Unclipped From Front Side Panel

Hi all,

Yesterday morning I discovered that my bumper appears to be coming unclipped from the side panel. (driver side of my LHD Rav4).

I tried pushing it back in and didn't have any luck. I'm not able to get it to stick and have no idea what could have cause this. I've looked under the wheel well and there is a plastic loop that appears a bent/broken. I unfortunately did not get a shot of it because it was too dark for my iPhone to get a decent photo.

Is this fixable? Anyone ever have a similar problem?

I'd really like to avoid taking to dealer or replacing the bumper, but I CANNOT live with this!

Near the arch end there should be a screw, looks to be missing.

Just one screw under the wing. If you take that out you could probably push the bumper back and catch it with the screw. There are 2 claws that hook into those elongated holes. Look through carefully and you should see them but if the bumper (fender) has been hooked up they may have broken. In this case it will never quite fit properly. It will casy about 20 Euros for the part with the claws but to fit it the fender has to come off. It is not a bad job with a helper.

Had the same problem after some nice person knocked mine out when they reversed into me. As Don stated, there is a single screw nearest the wheel which the bumper is retained by. Even if you relocate the two elongated, which should just push back in and click, without the one nearest the wheel fixed, the bumper just pops out again after a while. My lug was broken off so the screw would not hold it for long, You can access it more easily if you remove the inner plastic wheel arch.

I could not repair the broken lug, so I just "superglued" it back in place and it hasn't moved in six months! Cheaper the a replacement bumper :D

FWIW I had this last week on a Yaris with a broken clip and used a ty-wrap round the fitting once pushed through where the missing clip should be to stop it dropping out again and it secured it fine :)

Is this the screw in question?

Regarding the elongated clips they dont appear to be catching anything... they dont "click"
