Hi guys I am new here So hi to you all.

I have a 2013 Hilux invincible 3ltr. About a month ago the fuel filter light came and stayed on. I took it to my local dealer and they had a look and said I need a new fuel filter but its not the normal one its an upgraded filter I asked why and the lady said if they used the normal filter it would happen again! So I asked if it was covered under waranty she said no. Now if this is a fault with the old filter would this not be under waranty? Surely if its an "upgrade" due to the old filters not working this would be under the waranty. What's your take on this is it worth making a fuss and trying to get it done on waranty and saving £120

Sorry to hear of troubles with your new Hilux, the problem of the filter light coming on (especially in cold weather) is very common, mine did 2 month ago.

Theres no way a filter would need changing so soon, in fact fuel filter changing isn`t even part of the Hilux service shedule.

You could`ve had some water in the filter which is easily drained by the little tap on the bottom of the housing, then the thing to do is to reset the light.

To reset pull apart the multiplug on the top of the filter housing, turn the ignition on and reconnect.

It's not a faulty filter, but the additives used in fuel. It has been a particular issue this winter. Toyota made a fuel filter to overcome the problem

Kingo
