Hi Guys

I'm looking to improve the power and acceleration on my Auris sr vvt-i 16 engine.

I've phoned around to see if it's possible to remap the engine and basically every company I've spoken too have said "that it can't be remapped"

I also took it to longlife just to have a quote on a full through system but even they wouldnt touch it and would only give me a quote for a system from the knuckle joint back.

I am dying to improve it's power and acceleration but from what i know i don't think it's possible with this car.

Can anyone help with some advice on what to do get what I need !!

Cheers

I know it's not exactly next door to you Shaun, but if you want a cat-back exhaust then contact MIJ Performance in Walsall, Birmingham. I had my Nissan done there & you can specify different things like bore size, tailpipe design or the number of silencers. Worth a try !

No recommendation, but this came up when I searched 'remapping Toyota Auris 1.6' - http://www.hyperremaps.co.uk/figures_toyota.php

Hey Frostyballs

Give the site a try and a ring and was pleased to see my model on thier list....until i give them a ring and they told me that there wasn't actually a remap available for this model they said the reason why was because

"To be honest it would not be cost effective, a 9% increase in power costing aprox £250, with no added fuel improvement. Hence why no remap available."

Sooooo the search goes on !!! don't think im going to win.

Hey Uncle buck

I've taking it to my local longlife dealer and like i said they wouldnt touch the full exhaust system.... she basically said that she didnt really want to touch the CAT and what she described as a "torpedo" section of the exhaust which she had never seen before...hence why she would only change from the knuckle joint back which she quoted me for £270 quid and would only improve it by something like 5bhp which i dont think it worth doing personally......there must be something out there to increase this cars power just cant seem to find the answer lol

There's nothing much you can do, but you can add throttle controller for better accelerator pedal response. It will improve your car's behaviour for sure and is not too expensive.

Also there is a possibility to modify your engine in order to make it 1.8 instead of 1.6. and get approx. 10 horsepower more. On the other hand, you can just make a swap and install another engine, for example from Blade Master G.

Shaun - you're being a bit defeatist here. Just because one garage tells you they won't or can't do it, doesn't mean it can't be done. Why not give them a call and find out ? Or any of the other exhaust specialists out there ? With my previous car I found a header on sale from the states, then mated it to a custom 200 cell sports cat from MIJ & had them build a cat-back exhaust system to my requirements. You just need to ask around more ......

As stated in an earlier thread, stick a pair of Webers on it, like these.
