The block aint titanium .. just the valve springs ..

It think the block was changed on the latter revisions .. and this (with the VVTi) would really only be the bits you'd keep ..

Ot of the Beams engine .. you'd only keep the block and the VVTi head .. the pistons, cranks etc you'd bin and replace.

I think Skylines have the right idea .. short stroke <fnar>, high revving, individual TB's ..

the Syklines RB26DETT engine is only a 2.6 .. where a similar engine from Toyota is 3.0 (supra) .. this is because it's a shorter stroke .. but it has induvudual Throttle bodies (one per cylinder, instead of the supra's one for all 6)

So you have a wide piston, not moving very far .. instead of a thin piston moving a long distance ..

To get a high revving engine you need a large diameter piston not moving far (short stroke), instead of a small diameter piston with a long stroke.

Like F1 cars .. they may be 3.0 v10's .. but the pistons don't have a long stroke, hence they can run to 15k rpm (and the rest)

I remember being told that the pistons in F1 cars were oval for more surface area?.

You can tell I'm a n00b with cars :)

i read about JE pisons for the 3sg(t)e they are round at the crown but oval at the base, appearently from the article i read all 'good' forged pistons should be round crown to oval base, ended up saying thats the main reason good forged pistons cost alot cause the machining to make this happen. round is easy to produce, a good oval is hard so costs alot.
