Dilemma... :(

Hello everybody,

Just a quick question.

2 months ago KwikFit "killed" my RAV4 engine (Toyota 2.0 VVT-i XT-R 5dr Auto, 2009, 11.5K Mileage).

The damage was assessed and evaluated by Toyota Jemca in Edgware. Toyota said (and later KF agreed) that short engine and some other bits and pieces need to
be replaced. Total cost: £11,800.

KwikFit accepted liability and I've been in negotiations with them since.

They made me 2 offers but they were both unacceptable and I rejected them.

Then their insurance got involved and now it's been passed to Laws of Justice. To cut the long story short, they have come up with 2 fresh offers:

1. They would buy Short Engine from Toyota and Motorman do the job as they
find Toyota workmanship too expensive. They are offering 2 years warranty for
short engine and 1 year workmanship warranty from Motorman.

2. They would write off the car and pay me £12,800

Option 1 scares me a bit because even if they replace the short engine and other
bits and pieces, I have a feeling sooner rather than later something will undoubtedly
go wrong cos the damage which was done due to KwikFit's aparent negligence is massive. I went to one of
there garages to have my MOT done. Once done, one of the mechanics asked me if I wanted oil
changed, I thought I might as well do it and agreed, paid and left. After 5 min driving the engine ceased :(. Apparently the filter wasn't fit correctly, as I drove off it came off and engine was running
without oil for 5 min.

This engine has now been disassembled and reassembled at least twice. I don't think I can trust it any more... or am I being paranoid? ((

So, my question is, should I let them repair my RAV4 or should I take the money and buy
a new "used" car with the original engine in it and full service history?

or I might even go for Auris Hybrid

I am tired can't take this nonsense any more as It's been going on for a while, so I've decided to end this nightmare tomorrow by choosing one of the two options.
