I Dropped A Clanger.

My new Auris will be ready to pick up Friday afternoon, so I thought I will get the service book, manual, log book and the two keys together, so I do not have to bother with doing that on Friday.

After turning the house upside down the log book was no where to be found, so on to the DVLA to get a replacement, which they cheerfully charged me £25 for.

So keep your log book safe our be prepared to empty your wallet.

It pays to get a large brown envelope and put anything to do with the car iin it you dont need to carry in your in it and mark it in felt pen the model it is in large letters.

i was lucky to able to buy a small filing cabinet for a song complete with files. realy handy as you can find things very easy.

Some Toyota dealers reserve the right to levy a £ 500 deposit if the V5 (Log Book) for your paret exchange is not present at trade in day

So your £ 25 is quite a bargain!

Cautionary tale to those that are changeling cars

When I recently changed my car I spent all weekend searching for my spare key which I had "put somewhere safe"

Managed to find it thankfully as if not it would have cost me about £ 140 to replace!

I have a small filing cabinet and all the other relevant car documents and the spare key were in there own section, apart from the log book.

I keep all my important documents in a fire resistant safe. It is bad when you mislay papers like the log book.

I also have all the MOT's.

Good advice.
