From reading previous posts Im under the impression that a N/A rev3's power band is higher up the rev range?

Okay so, firstly is this correct? Secondly surely taking the rev's high all the time is the equivelent of 'raping' you car so to speak, resulting in greater wear on various parts?

Whats the general opinion on needing to take your car higher up the rev range to get some decent speed out of it? Is this normal for sportscars?

Sorry for sounding dim but its a subject I know very little about

It seems pretty normal to have to rev the balls of japanese cars to make the most of the power available, I've had a couple of different jap cars and they have all been the same.

I find I have to be reving at at least 4000 rpm to start making any progress but I dont think this is anything to worry about. Just dont rev too hard when the engine is cold and make sure you do regular oil changes.

it makes pootling around town economic .. and then higher revs more sporty ..

and yeah Rev3's power is higher up the rev range (by about 250 rpm i think) ..

With all the Toyota's I have owned or driven, when driving about casually gear change happens between 3K and 3.5Krpm. On open roads and entering Motorways I am slightly more agressive with gear changes happening around the 5 - 6Krpm mark. To date (touch wood) have never had any engine problems. New oil every 6000 - 9000 miles (twice a year)

I think the highest Ive taken the rev's on the motorway is around 5.5k rpm, after this point I find that while the power is great, the car also sounds pretty loud (more so since taking out the stock air filter and replacing it with a K&N 57i induction kit), so I tend to back off.

Its no problem going all the way up to the red line but usually I stop at about 6500 rpm, it does get quite loud tho, I just turn the radio up a bit.
