Mmt Transmission Problem

I have a 2006 Yaris with MMT transmission and it bites in a dreadful fashion when pulling away or reversing. This seems to be an inherent problem as I have also experienced it with my 2008 Yaris.

What is the answer to this?

Get one that doesn't have MMT? :D

But yeah, this sort of thing seems pretty common with MMTs :(

Things you can try include:

Getting the MMT reset (Either at the dealer, or just unplugging the Battery for 20 minutes or so) but this tends to only fix it for a short time.

It may be that the clutch needs changing and that is causing the problem too, but TBH I find most semi-auto gearboxes like the MMT are not very nice at low-speed transitions, esp. when the plate and spring are worn.
