Aye but they look like part of the vehicle an not just added. I would fit them flush in the bumper.

A bit like these... just below the headlight.. ?

They look lush... :)

Has anybody apart from me noticed these DRL's do not even closely follow the line of the headlight....? Poor fitting in my anal opinion.....

After cut the bumper, install DRL's and be happy how beautiful it looks do we need to inform our insurance company regards modifications? I mean only in the situatiuon when the bumper is cut.

I would say a resounding no to that one, Adam.....they should give you a discount for being more safety conscious !!!! Problem may arise if you try to claim for replacing them after a minor accident.....they would be classed as accessories, not factory / standard fits.

Alternative view: The bumper integrity would be compromised and, in the unfortunate event of a pedestrian being in collision with [don't you just love it when newspapers report using that phrase] a RAV with a modified bumper, it could be argued that any claim for injury should be higher as a result of reduced shock absorbtion.

Hopefully a VERY unlikely scenario but it could happen....................

Its perspective. The lower line of the headlight looks different because it slopes back as well as up. Walking round the front and squatting down will bring it back into line my dear Watson.

Thanks to making me aware of this Kevin. I didn't know about new law regulations.

I have read tha Daytime Running Lights should be marked ECE R87 (road legal) and all new cars are fitted with DRL's.

DRLs are connected so that they come on with a ignition and switch off when the vehicle’s lighting is switched on.

OK then :) I'll try to find, buy and install some road legal DRL's :)

Hoovie's are superb but were not cheap.....drop him a PM.

Hoovies "were" superb but are no more :(. Not sure if it is due to the relay going pear-shaped or a characteristic of the RAV electrical system, but I found the lights started pulsing on and off after a short time after parking up the car and locking. Currently I have removed the fuse to disabled as otherwise I would be flashing the neighbours all night :)

I am intending to fit some to my van and will probably reuse the clever relay with them and see what happens - so will know if car or relay at fault.

Also, as I don't think this point has been made/clarified, "proper" DRLs (like mine, when they worked) come on only when the lights are OFF AND when the engine is running. So if the ignition is on but the engine is not started, the DRLs should NOT come on - if they do, they are not actually DRLs, but just automatic sidelights as per the typical 1970s Volvo.

As as as new cars all come with DRLs, it is just newly introduced cars that must come with them, so for example, a brand new car registered today, but actually a model from say 2010 does not have to have DRLs.
