Auris To Yaris

Hi to all, thinking of a change from my Auris 1.6 08 TR to a Yaris 1.33 SR, not concerned with the drop in performance as my speeding days are well over, like the look of this car and it has all the bells and whistles like touch and go, looking for honest opinions both pro and con from current SR owners.

Thanks

I have been running a Yaris SR CVT auto for a while, it drives very well, almost as if it goes round corners on rails! It is very sure footed. The space is good for a smaller car than I am used to

The SR only has the Toyota Touch audio, it does not have the Sat Nav "Go" but is available as an option, the bluetooth is great and will even import your contacts from an iPhone, something that is a struggle for earlier bluetooth sytems on iPhone, music streaming from your phone is seamless too

The CVT auto does an average 45 MPG not sure what a manual would do

Kingo

Best advice I could give would be to try and get a loan of a demo car for half a day. A lot depends on your intended use too, long journeys at speed in a Yaris won't be a as relaxed as in the Auris. Sorry to mention the F word but its like comparing a Ford Focus to a Fiesta, both nice cars but they are (as are the Auris and Yaris), cars in a different class or category.

Have an extended loan of one before you decide :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I never liked the MK1 Auris and bought a Verso for the family. I also have an older Yaris.

The Auris is much nicer on long journeys than a small car and you feel refreshed after driving it and not knackered like in a small car. But I never really liked the Auris and it's silly small boot in order to give too much space for passengers. Its wobbily backend and cheep looking plastics and seats.

The first generation Auris had a larger boot (354 litres) than the Corolla it replaced (289 litres) - I've owned both models and still have the sales brochures - and was competitive with other C-segment hatchbacks on sale at the time.

You could probably do with updating your profile to show your current vehicles.

Thanks all you guys for the input, purchased the Yaris SR version 5 door in Burning Red , 62 plate, great for getting around Local, my long journey these days are appx 60 miles each way of mixed roads and motorway about once a month so fits all my needs, no complaints after 2 weeks, time will tell.
