Corolla Verso 2.2 Diesel - Water Leaking From The Overflow Pipe.

Hi,

I have just realised my Corolla Verso 2.2 Diesel - Water leaking from the overflow pipe on the radiator.

The model is 2007, please can you advise?

I have been told it could be the dreaded head gasket.

The car was purchased 6 weeks ago from an auction.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry mate, its very likely to be the head gasket, with the 2.2d motors you can expect troubles of one kind or another, check out the Rav4 section of the forum.

Hi All,

Thank you very much for the advice.

Mr T have decided to carry out the work under the warranty.

I have been told it will take up-to 7 days to complete the work.

Gug when you say they swap 3/4 of the engine is this a new or refurbished part.

I'm not sure what work will be involved however I was quoted by Mr T or between 3k to 4k.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You will be getting a reconditioned 3/4 engine, this will have had all the known fixes for head gasket & oil consumption faults applied during the rebuild of the engine. Toyota call it 3/4 as it is not a complete unit, it is an assembled engine from rocker cover to sump incl intake manifold but excluding everything else such as exhaust manifold, egr, alternator etc etc

You were very lucky to have been able to get a warranty repair done after buying the vehicle from an auction, you can bet your next wages this is the reason it was in the auction in the first place!

Good luck, you should have a great car when it is fixed, good old Toyota eh? :D:

Kingo

Hi All

Toyota have replaced the engine. My car has done 75k, I did ask for the clutch to be replaced. Toyota advised the clutch is in good condition and should last about 70k miles. Hence the clutch was not replaced.

The service I received from Toyota was outstanding.
