Prius+ Sunroof Blind

Hi All, New here - 1st post. There will probably be many more! I picked up my new Prius+ yesterday. Its my first hybrid car and indeed my first Toyota (in fact my first Japanese car too) I.ve been driving turbo diesel estate cars for a while including Passat, Mondeo, V70 and A6.

My first query - is there a way of stopping the sunroof blind from shutting itself every time you lock the car, or at least setting so it opens itself again when you unlock. I've only had the car 24 hrs and its starting to annoy me already. It is so light and airy with the panoramic roof it seems a shame to shut all that light out and it usually takes me half the journey to realise its not there anymore (the lightness). The handbook says that it is a customisable feature but says only by a dealer - is that correct or is there a get around?

Hi and welcome, I'm afraid you're right it is only customisable by the dealer.

I thought the same as you initially when I got mine, that I would like to not have to re-open it every time I set off, but I had second thoughts after I sat stationary in the car in the blazing sun, after turning off the AC to prevent the engine coming on, with the roof open and realised how quickly it got very hot. I imagine if it was left open whilst parked, the AC would have a lot of work to do when you set off driving, to get the temperature down to a comfortable level. I now prefer it the way it is and after all it's a one touch operation to open it, so it's not a big deal to open it whilst your driving.
