Hi.. I have just had a very frustrating morning trying to fix my nearside side light. Car is a Carina E on a K plate. Auto 1.6 lift back. At first I thought it was simply the bulb but after replacing it still doesn't work on the side light. Dipped and full beam are fine for both sides but nearside side light will not work. I have also swapped the bulbs over to test but still no joy. I am thinking it may be something in the switch assembly but it looks pretty well sealed so I am stuck really. I have an MOT in about 15 days. Just hoped someone may have some ideas.. Many thanks.

Just in case you havent. Have you checked the fuses lower down under your dash. Look inside the cover to see which one it is.

According to the handbook, the fuses for the lights are located under the bonnet. I have checked them and they are all okay. Also it appears that the fuse covers the main, dipped and side lights together so as everything but the side is working I am at a loss...

Looking at the workshop manual it says F11 is for the L/H side lights and although under the dash / intrument panel array of a number of fuses there is a F10 and 13 but no F11>? So unless you have a poor earth connection on the bulb holder or worn wire i cant help you!

Well, with a bit more wiggling and jiggling, (no tools required), it's now working. Obviously some loose connection or earth somewhere so I will investigate further but at least it's good to go for the MOT. Many thanks to the contributors..
