Problems On Starting Prius

There's a huge mark up on all parts. When I wrote dealer parts management software for a very large car company I saw the data on what a dealer pays for a part, and what the manufacturer pays too. Some parts had larger mark-ups than others. In some cases the manufacturer might pay their suppliers £1 for a widget, which they would charge the dealer £5 for and the dealer would charge you £10, or a lot more.

But those numbers hide the cost of designing and engineering the parts, stocking them, delivering them etc etc. All that has to be paid for too.

Saw a large Fixed Price Chart in reception at my local dealer with regard to minimum price promise service & repairs. A Prius Battery replacement was listed at £90. (Date 25th July 2013.)
